We are a triumvirate, not a holy trinity. We think alike sometimes but don't always agree. We don't look at things the same way.
Benedict is a mendicant priest, almost a monk. He is the kind of monk that works hard to preserve civilization when it is overrun by the barbarians. He thinks of heaven, sin, creation, and inner meanings. He is sad when he thinks that a higher purpose is missing. He asks questions and is endlessly curious. He is an idealist.
Tiberius is a loyal and steadfast soldier. He spent the best years of his life in servitude, waiting for the nod from Caesar Augustus, which never came. He knows that you have to spill blood and sweat on the drill field, so you bleed less on the battle field. If his soldiers don't love him that's okay, it's enough for Tiberius to know that his soldiers are more likely to survive and win. He knows discipline and suffering, but he is only comfortable leading when he knows what he is doing. He doesn't like to stand in front posing like a hero.
Cato is a crabby Stoic and believes fiercely in the superiority of the Republic, and rages against the Empire. He sees all the bad of modern times, and thinks everything was better in the past. He worships the ancestors, and is more likely to forgive them their faults than be compassionate to the living. He has high standards for everyone, but most of all for himself. Strangely enough, of the three, he has the richest sense of humor. He is more self-aware than anyone would credit. But he hides all that behind a sour face and tells all and sundry, without tact, what their failings are. Sometimes he gets drunk and spits out poetry.
